Impression
In my
first Model A I wanted to show what my collage was representing a lonely child
in the middle of train tracks, and two hands been separated. I first started
with this curved wood shape representing the lonely child; I decided to curve
it because I felt it’s a way of representing loneliness. My next step was
representing the separated hands. The way I represented this was by placing the
metal dowels through the curved wood shape. The other idea that came to my head
was to build a train track and tilting it, and placing the curved wood shaped
next to it. The reason it’s placed this way is because I want to represent the
child hiding from the people that don’t like him. Then for Model B I was
playing with the tracks by racing it up, in another way showing that the lonely
child is so lonely that he feels that the tracks ran over him. But he still has
these hands that are holding him together, if you can see closely on the third
image of Model B on the metal curved shape in the back of it there is a wood
dowel thats helping it stand up. And for Model C it’s the same concept but
rotating the tracks in a different position.
Active/
Alive
In
my first Model D I wanted to show what my collage was representing activeness
and aliveness. I first started by creating a base and then cutting up thin wood
in two different sizes. My way of representing the heartbeat which to me meant active/
alive was by placing the thin wood that I cut up and making a ¾ triangle. The
way I represented light was by cutting strips of white paper. With the strips
of white paper I curved it and placed it on the base. My reason of curving the
paper is because light is always moving around. For Model E I just lifted the heartbeat
up and kept the same concept of curing the white paper. In this model the light is
going through the heartbeat and the light also has a bit more of exaggerated curves.
And for Model F I played with the heartbeat by placing them up and down.
It was
very challenging to do abstract models based on this collage. But the main idea
I had was to create a structure so something very smooth and flawless can sit
on something very strong, hard, and unbreakable. The idea of the structure was
to represent the idea of designing buildings and the stable fence that the rose
is sitting on. And the idea of something very smooth and flawless came from the
rose and the paint brushes because art to me should be done in a smooth manner.
So for Model G what I was trying to do was creating a metal structure by curving
it and then adding peeled fruit. The peeled fruit meant something healthy and smooth.
I tried the same thing for Model H. Then for Model I wanted to switch up the
things, but this time by not using glue. So I created a structure that stood up
with the help of the metal dowels. Then I decided to put a white cloth with
holes and running it through the structure.
The white cloth is representing the smoothness of the rose and art.
Hi Omar,
ReplyDeleteI think that your abstract models are very well developped from a model - you take a feeling, a picture expressing the feeling, and a 3D model based on the picture. What I would suggest maybe is to look also to the future interior spaces, since you will have some large size spaces and think which of them would express something, not only the volume to outside but also within a volume.
keep up the good work,
Maria
Hi Maria,
Deletethanks for the comment, and yes I've been thinking about that. Now I have to come up with a Hybrid Model.
I agree with Maria (again!), what you have to start thinking is how all those rooms you need are going to fit inside your shapes and how will people feel inside it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mirian, that's where my hybrid model comes in, trying to figure out my spaces
