Building Typologies

Which building typology you are researching?
The building typology that I will be researching is an educational facility.

Why are you researching this building typology?
I’ve noticed throughout the site analysis that there are a lot of art galleries, restaurants, and bars, which means competition. The last thing I would like to do is compete. So what came across my mind is incorporating a facility with one of these three activities, which will eventually turn into a school.

What is the specialty of this building type you would like to research i.e.   Museum for dance, school for digital media?
The facility that I will be providing for Chelsea is a school for modern art and design.

What are the examples that you will be researching… list the examples, location and architect?

Architect: Henning Larsen Architects.          Location: Denmark.

What are your goals for working with this building type?
The goal that I’m trying to purse is the building should fit the site instead of fight it. It should be a building that can be associated to the community. It’s going to be a place where all students are welcome and happy to be here and ready to learn new things.

What are the program elements that you see included at this point in your building?
A few of the programs that may be includes would be design studios, fabrication rooms, and computer labs.
